Training and Development

housing2The YMCA Supported Accommodation is tailor made to give a good level of support and a wide range of training oppourtunities to all the residents

Each resident is allocated a Support Worker who will assist them with everything, from advice relating to education, employment and training to how to overcome personal issues in their lives.

All the support workers are highly trained and experienced, committed individuals who primary function is to see all the residents succeed and thrive in the local community.

One of the key learning opportunities is called the Employability and Personal Development Qualification. This excellent course, which is delivered by our in-house trainers, is specifically designed to be flexible and adaptable.

Residents start the course at the correct level for them and will progress through the course with encouragement and support from the staff team. This course helps residents to demonstrate that they have the personal skills and attitudes needed by employers, and help them look for, obtain and maintain employment. By developing their skills and confidence, these qualifications may also help residents progress to future learning. Residents are also encouraged to take up volunteering opportunities, and work placements both within and outside the YMCA.
