Welcome to the Well Being Centre On-line!
Background:
Work on the YMCA Well Being Centre was started in September 2007 after a successful BIG Lottery funding application through West Midlands Regional Assembly and the Living Well in the West Midlands project.
All the services are being delivered in partnership with Sandwell Primary Care Trust and a number of other organisations.
The Project:
This exciting new project brings a range of superb new initiatives to the heart of Sandwell:
Aromatherapy: Proven relaxation and de-stressing benefits will be delivered at highly affordable prices - if the price has always been a barrier before, it needn't be now!
Light Box Therapy: This effective therapy, which is specifically for people who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). If the winter brings you down, 20 minutes of reading/having your breakfast in front of one of our 6 lightboxes (in 3 different locations in Sandwell) will help combat the blues.
Healthy Food: We have just overhauled our cafe menu to offer really healthy yet satisfying options for your breakfast or lunch. In addition to that, our Community Food & Food Advisor will be running frequent Cook & Taste sessions across Sandwell and working with schools to increase awareness amongst pupils of the impact a good diet can have on your well being.
Better Access for Deaf People: We have recently employed an Access Coordinator for deaf and hard of hearing people. This will enable more people with hearing difficulties to access all our Well Being and Fitness Facilities, as well as promoting healthy living amongst the deaf community of Sandwell.
